Le Bec en l’air is an independent publisher founded in 1999 and based at Marseille’s Friche La Belle de Mai since 2010. Defining itself as Mediterranean rather than regionalist, it publishes photography alongside literature, art and social research, often constructing books through dialogue between images and writing. Darwin selects Le Bec en l’air for a catalogue connecting photography with territory, migration, colonial histories and social change, from Marseille to Algeria, Palestine and beyond.
