Darwin approaches Latin America as more than a geographical category. The selection brings together photographers from across the continent with outsiders who have worked extensively in the region, allowing different positions to confront one another. Documentary traditions coexist with personal, political and experimental practices. Colonial histories, inequality, violence, migration, landscape and everyday life recur throughout. Darwin uses geography as a starting point, but builds the section through shared histories, tensions and ways of seeing.
