Capa: cara a cara — Robert Capa — Aperture / Museo Reina Sofía — 1999

Photographs of the Spanish Civil War bring the front line, civilian life and displacement into the same sequence. Drawn from the Museo Reina Sofía collection, the catalogue accompanies the 1999 exhibition presenting Cornell Capa’s donation of 205 photographs. Historical essays and contemporary texts place the images within the political and human experience of the conflict, including the defence of Madrid, the bombing of Barcelona and the exodus towards the French border.
