Charomushki Odyssey — Andrei Loginov — 89books
Andrei Loginov began Charomushki Odyssey after discovering boxes of glass negatives beneath the bed of an abandoned village photographer in Belarus. Made between the 1930s and 1950s, the damaged portraits became the basis for a dialogue with the present: Loginov recovered the studio backdrop and photographed contemporary villagers against it. Historical negatives, found material and new photographs fold different periods together, connecting individual memory with collectivisation, war, Soviet history and the political transformations that followed.
