Brassaï – Fundación Mapfre, 2018

Paris after dark finds its definitive eye here. This Fundación Mapfre catalogue revisits Brassaï’s nocturnal world—brothels, cafés, lovers, fog-bound streets—through a rigorous institutional lens. Produced for the 2018 exhibition, it situates his photography between Surrealism and documentary, foregrounding his role in shaping the myth of 1930s Montparnasse. Carefully printed and cloth-bound, it combines iconic plates with archival material, reaffirming why his night images remain foundational to modern urban photography.
