Király (1840) Hungarian Satirical Print
A hand-colored 19th-century caricature of a Hungarian figure labeled “Király” (“King”), executed with theatrical exaggeration and Central European charm. Extended Description This rare print, dated 1840 and titled Király—Hungarian for “king”—offers a whimsical yet pointed caricature of rural authority or noble pretense. The figure, seen from behind, wears a long floral-patterned robe and an exaggerated hat, rifle slung across his back, with a mustachioed sidekick crouching beside him, pitchfork in hand.
