Darwin approaches Africa through different positions rather than a single photographic history. Seydou Keïta and Malick Sidibé meet South African photographers David Goldblatt and Pieter Hugo, alongside outsiders including Raymond Depardon, Peter Beard and Bruno Barbey. Across portraiture, documentary, fashion, landscape and photobooks, the selection confronts different ways Africa has been represented. Darwin deliberately places African authors beside foreign perspectives, allowing proximity, fascination, history and power to remain visible.
