carpoolers-4-alejandro-cartagena-third-edition-2026
Carpoolers #4 — Alejandro Cartagena — Los Sumergidos — 2026 — Third Edition

Photographed from above, the open beds of pickup trucks become small stages for the daily journeys of workers in Monterrey, Mexico. Bodies share space with ladders, buckets and tools; passengers sleep, wait or shelter together as the vehicles carry them towards work. Alejandro Cartagena’s repeated viewpoint turns a familiar, often overlooked form of transport into a sustained examination of labour and the expanding city. Each truck holds a different arrangement of people and possessions, while the accumulating images reveal a shared condition. Carpoolers #4 continues Cartagena’s reappraisal of this body of work, placing the people who sustain urban growth at the centre of the book. Its visual rhythm moves between individual encounters and a collective portrait, inviting attention to the relationship between economic development, mobility and the human cost of distance.

Technical Sheet
Title: Carpoolers #4
Artist: Alejandro Cartagena
Publishers: Los Sumergidos and Alejandro Cartagena
Edition: Third edition, standard edition
Publication year: 2026, as listed in the publisher’s product sheet
Pages: 112
Dimensions: 21.5 × 33.5 cm
Binding: Hardcover
Printing: Offset
Editors: Alejandro Cartagena and Fernando Gallegos
Text: Brad Feuerhelm
Editorial design: Alejandro Cartagena
Printer: Mas Matbaa, Istanbul, Turkey
Project location: Monterrey, Mexico

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0999/7058/0818/files/TODWEBB_copy_copy_370e3483-b783-4247-85b6-393770e7ec37.jpg?v=1791204663
