Looking closely at their photographs became the beginning of a tribute: a book in which remembrance takes shape through touch, repetition and unexpected connections. Found images and intimate Spanish-language fragments bring the family archive into a new sequence, allowing small gestures and remembered objects to carry the presence of someone absent. The reading experience extends beyond the turning of pages. Folded panels open outward, inviting the reader to compare, combine and rearrange relationships between images. Named after a game invented by her father, Averbuj’s first photobook makes play part of mourning and gives memory a physical, changeable form. Published by Fuego Books as Cuaderno de la Kursala No. 89, it accompanies her 2022 exhibition at the University of Cádiz.

Technical Sheet
Artist, text and image editing: Julieta Averbuj
Publisher: Fuego Books, Murcia, Spain
Published: 2022
Series: Cuadernos de la Kursala, No. 89
Edition size: 750 copies
Pages: 60
Illustrations: 60, four-colour offset printing
Dimensions: 240 × 320 mm closed; 480 × 320 mm partly opened; 940 × 320 mm fully opened
Binding: Foldout softcover with a Singer-stitched booklet, housed in a stamped cardboard case
Language: Spanish
Editing: Julieta Averbuj and Fuego Books
Design: Julieta Averbuj and underbau
Prepress: Eugeni Gay Marín
Printer: Brizzolis
Exhibition: Kursala, University of Cádiz, 31 May–6 July 2022; curated by Jesús Micó
ISBN: 9788494398353

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0999/7058/0818/files/TODWEBB_copy_copy_386f41e1-b000-4a21-81a1-67878a93ee92.jpg?v=1791279049
