Japanese photojournalist Akihiko Okamura moved to Ireland in 1969 and remained there through the years of the Troubles. Working in quiet, luminous colour, he photographed streets, families and ordinary moments that sit beside the period's familiar images of violence. This book draws on the rediscovery of his Irish archive, revealing how a foreign observer found a visual language for lives continuing under political pressure.
