A complete reprint of Hashimoto’s Asahi Graph features on the goze, blind itinerant women musicians he followed through rural Japan in the early 1970s. Moving village to village with shamisen, the performers belonged to a tradition already disappearing under industrialisation and rural depopulation. The book restores the original 1970 and 1973 magazine articles in sequence, adds full English translations and concludes with an essay by Hiroshi Hasegawa, preserving both the photographs and their original editorial context.
