Carpoolers #4 — Alejandro Cartagena — Los Sumergidos — 2026 — Third Edition

Photographed from above, the open beds of pickup trucks become small stages for the daily journeys of workers in Monterrey, Mexico. Bodies share space with ladders, buckets and tools; passengers sleep, wait or shelter together as the vehicles carry them towards work. Alejandro Cartagena’s repeated viewpoint turns a familiar, often overlooked form of transport into a sustained examination of labour and the expanding city.
