Momoe — Daido Moriyama — Akio Nagasawa Publishing — 2021
An unexpected coda to Moriyama’s Woman in the Night series, Momoe returns once more to the elusive woman who appeared under different names across Japan. After Shinobu in Shinjuku, Hiroko in Minami, Naomi in Nishiki and Yukari in Nakasu, Moriyama imagines her back in her birthplace of Ishikari, living under her given name, Momoe. The 59 photographs continue a portrait built through changing identities, places and recollection.
