Tokyo no Koibito gathers approximately 380 photographs made by Chikashi Kasai between 2011 and 2017. More than sixty women appear across its pages, including friends, acquaintances, models and actresses. Portraits and nudes form a dense sequence of private encounters, where desire is carried by a glance, a pose and the palpable exchange between photographer and subject. Kasai brings the immediacy of the snapshot to images that remain consciously sensual.
