D’une Chine à l’autre — Henri Cartier-Bresson / Jean-Paul Sartre — Robert Delpire — 1954
Made from Cartier-Bresson’s 1948–1949 reporting in China, this first French edition follows daily life through the collapse of Nationalist rule and the Communist takeover. Jean-Paul Sartre provides the introductory text, while Cartier-Bresson writes the captions. Robert Delpire assembled the book with the photographer and Pierre Faucheux. Its 144 black-and-white photographs are reproduced in gravure by Draeger; this copy retains the illustrated dust jacket.
