PAK! — Brian Sergio — Dienacht Publishing — 2017

Sergio turns portraiture into a collision with the social codes of the Philippines. Friends, lovers and strangers appear without the restraint expected by a largely conservative Catholic society: sex, bodies, tattoos and private encounters become expressions of defiance rather than spectacle. Shot between 2012 and 2016, the work is deliberately intimate and confrontational, implicating the photographer in the same world he photographs. His first photobook, PAK! was Riso printed and produced in a first edition of just 200 copies.
