Stump — Christopher Anderson — Editorial RM — 2013

A ruthless close-up of American politics at its most performative. Shot during the 2012 presidential campaign, these portraits strip away spectacle to reveal something raw, tense, and deeply human. Anderson’s unusual backstage access translates into images that feel both invasive and precise—what he calls “X-ray icons.” Faces become surfaces of pressure, fatigue, calculation. This is not reportage but dissection: a study of power, image-making, and the psychological toll of constant exposure in a sharply divided political moment.
