Built from more than 800 erotic photographs found online, Lust examines a particular form of post-Soviet vernacular image-making rather than Kurmaz’s own photographic encounters. Sasha Kurmaz collected and classified anonymous images according to interiors, objects and poses, turning a mass of publicly circulating material into a study of desire, domestic space and amateur representation. The resulting 296-page book treats the found photograph as social evidence: intimate, repetitive and inseparable from the visual culture that produced and distributed it.
