Queen Bees — Luigi Lista — 89books

Luigi Lista builds Queen Bees around female presence, style and self-presentation, allowing portraiture and fashion codes to overlap without reducing the subjects to either category. Bodies, clothing and attitude become ways of negotiating identity in front of the camera. Published by 89books, the book is structured as a contemporary portrait sequence in which performance is part of the subject rather than something to be stripped away. The images remain direct while acknowledging the theatricality of being seen.
