Michael Ivnitsky takes the Situationist slogan “Sous les pavés, la plage” as a point of departure for a loose, street-level view of Paris. The work favours fleeting encounters, youth and the contradictions of public space over monumental images of the city. Published by 89books, the sequence reads as a contemporary visual diary: restless, personal and attentive to the gap between the myth of Paris and the ordinary life taking place across its pavements.
