Darwin values Rachel Stanley and Gregory Barker as publishers who treat the photobook as an artwork rather than a container. Since 2014, STANLEY/BARKER has brought historical archives and contemporary voices into carefully edited, materially specific forms. Like Akio Nagasawa, they understand publishing as authorship: sequencing, paper, typography, binding and rediscovery become part of the work. Darwin shares this bias—the book not documenting photography, but completing it.
