IBASHO, an Antwerp gallery devoted to Japanese photography, and Paris publisher the(M) éditions have co-published photobooks since 2019. Their catalogue includes Miho Kajioka, Masahisa Fukase, Yoshinori Mizutani, Mika Horie and Toshiya Watanabe, alongside Japan-related work by Western artists. Often limited and materially elaborate, these books treat printing, paper, binding and sequence as integral to photography. Darwin selects the collaboration for its sustained, precise engagement with Japanese photobook culture.
