Some Afrikaners Photographed — David Goldblatt, 2020, 1st Edition, Steidl
A foundational study of power, identity and quiet complicity. First published in 1975 and revisited here, David Goldblatt’s portraits of white Afrikaners examine the psychological and social architecture of apartheid-era South Africa. Rather than spectacle, he chose restraint—photographing farmers, businessmen and families in their own environments, allowing posture, space and detail to speak. This Steidl edition reaffirms the project’s enduring relevance, tracing how ideology inhabits the ordinary.
