Head’s Up — The Anonymous Project by Lee Shulman, 2022, Limited Edition of 500, Editions Bessard
An ode to the accidental masterpiece. Drawn from over 800,000 anonymous Kodachrome slides collected by Lee Shulman, this volume focuses on cropped faces and missing heads—images once dismissed as mistakes. Freed from facial expression, gesture and body language take centre stage, transforming “failed” snapshots into poetic studies of intimacy and chance. Published in 2022 in a hardbound edition of 500 copies, the book reframes amateur photography as collective memory—tender, humorous and unexpectedly profound.
