Koudelka / Ikonar: Archival Constellations — Josef Koudelka (2022)

Published to accompany the exhibition at Photo Elysée, Koudelka / Ikonar functions as both retrospective and self-portrait, structured not by chronology but by constellation — fragments of contact sheets, annotated film edges, and the residue of a life spent in exile, always in search of the image. The title “Ikonar” is no empty epithet: it refers to the name used for Koudelka by his Roma friends — a gesture of recognition that aligns him with myth, rather than authorship.
