Nomura’s 69 photographs are interwoven with the uncensored version of Ango Sakaguchi’s 1946 story The War and a Woman , whose original publication was heavily cut under the Allied Occupation. Bodies, darkness and desire meet a text shaped by war and moral dislocation, while Satoshi Machiguchi’s distinctive twist binding makes their encounter structural as well as visual.
