Xavier Miserachs (1937–1998) was a Catalan photographer central to Spain’s photographic renewal during the 1960s. His landmark photobook Barcelona, blanc i negre (1964) portrayed the city through crowded streets, workers, nightlife and everyday encounters. Costa Brava Show (1966) examined tourism and changing coastal life. Darwin selects Miserachs for constructing photographic narratives of social transformation, connecting Barcelona’s street culture with the cinematic sequencing of the modern photobook.
