Lost and Found — Bruce Gilden — Atelier EXB

These photographs of New York from 1978 to 1984 were found in Bruce Gilden's archive decades after they were made. The city is recognisably his, full of friction, passing bodies and unexpected encounters, but the method is surprising: almost all the frames are horizontal and made without the flash later associated with his work. The book shows a photographer forming his relationship to the street before his better-known visual language had settled.
