The Good Place — Kanrapee Chokpaiboon — Arc Press — 2023

Varanasi appears here as a city suspended between sacred promise and physical mortality. Kanrapee Chokpaiboon photographs people, animals and objects across both sides of the Ganges, filtering the holy city through the surreal, darkly humorous visual language that runs through his work. The sequence moves between everyday observation and an almost extraterrestrial atmosphere, using colour and unexpected encounters to complicate familiar images of pilgrimage.
