Steidl enters Darwin not as a neutral publisher but as a site where sequencing, paper, and authority are negotiated. Founded in 1968 and based in Göttingen, it aligns with our fixation on the photobook as object under pressure. We return to it where precision masks obsession—echoing Japanese seriality, Scandinavian restraint, and other zones where printing becomes a form of control, intimacy, and insistence.
