Las Vegas becomes stranger the longer you look. Halpern photographs the city beyond its familiar spectacle, moving between performers, tourists, animals, desert landscapes and artificial environments with an eye for moments where fantasy slips into unease. Made over two decades, the work uses Vegas as both real place and American hallucination: seductive, excessive and unstable. Portraits and landscapes collide without fixed narrative, allowing beauty, loneliness and absurdity to coexist. The result extends Halpern’s distinctive exploration of American myth, following ZZYX and Omaha Sketchbook.
