Darwin values Akio Nagasawa as collector, gallerist and publisher, but above all as an accomplice to artists. With Daido Moriyama, he understood that publishing could reactivate the rough, immediate spirit of Provoke: soft papers, direct printing, modest formats, signed copies. Through Moriyama, Issei Suda and Daisuke Yokota, Nagasawa treats the photobook less as reproduction than as an original, circulating art object.
