Nadia color — Hajime Sawatari — Akio Nagasawa Publishing — 2016
Sawatari’s photographs of Nadia grew from a relationship that began in 1971, moving between Karuizawa, Tokyo, Venice and other locations in Italy. The resulting work shifts continually between portrait, love story and constructed fiction, becoming a key series in his photography. For this 2016 edition, Sawatari returned to the negatives and introduced numerous previously unpublished images, issuing separate colour and black-and-white volumes. Nadia color was produced in 600 signed and numbered copies, with poetry by Kazuko Shiraishi.
