Two photographers, two radically different visions of Tokyo. Published for the exhibition Moriyama – Tomatsu: Tokyo at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, this three-volume set places Moriyama’s restless street photography alongside Tomatsu’s more analytical view of postwar Japan. Rather than merging their work into a single narrative, the publication gives each photographer a separate volume, accompanied by a third book of texts. The exhibition was postponed by Covid-19, leading the catalogue to be released before its eventual opening.
