A hotel bathroom becomes enough material for an entire Moriyama book. During a photographic trip to Aizuwakamatsu, he became absorbed by the repeated circular tiles covering his bathroom, turning an incidental interior detail into a study of pattern, surface and photographic abstraction. Across 48 pages, repetition removes the tiles from their ordinary function and makes them almost graphic. The eighth volume in Akio Nagasawa’s hand-bound series, it was produced in 350 signed and numbered copies with a silkscreen-printed canvas cover.
