Puglia. Tra albe e tramonti — Luigi Ghirri — MACK — 2022

Puglia changed the way Ghirri photographed Italy. First visiting in 1982, he returned almost annually for a decade, drawn to whitewashed streets, arches, beaches, fairgrounds and the region’s distinctive southern light. Rather than monumental landscapes, he found meaning in modest details and visual coincidences: shadows, doorways, signs and traces of everyday life. Almost all the photographs gathered here were little-known or previously unpublished, revealing a sustained relationship with a place that became pivotal to his practice.
