Coming and Going – Jim Goldberg

An unguarded autobiography built from photographs, lists, and memory. Structured in two movements, it traces the artist’s early career alongside his parents’ illnesses, culminating in his father’s death and a divorce that fractures everything. The second half shifts to his daughter Ruby, tenderly chronicled through play, hair clippings, birthdays and time passing. Between personal collapse and renewal, it becomes a portrait of family as both anchor and rupture—closing with the encounter that begins a new chapter.
