Karoo – Land of Thirst — David Lurie, 2019

An austere meditation on distance and survival. David Lurie photographs South Africa’s Karoo as both geography and psychological terrain—vast horizons, bleached roads, fragile vegetation under relentless light. Produced in conjunction with A4 Arts Foundation, Cape Town, this exhibition publication extends Lurie’s long engagement with land, history and post-apartheid space. The images resist spectacle, holding instead a quiet tension between beauty and scarcity, permanence and erosion.
