Thirty years of photographing one family become a study of what it means to watch someone grow. Centred on Kaur’s youngest sister Simran, the book combines her own photographs with family archives stretching back to the 1950s. Childhood, adolescence and motherhood unfold alongside landscapes, animals and recurring natural motifs, giving the family album an uncanny, almost folkloric charge. Published in an edition of 900 copies, it is ultimately about sisterhood as collaboration: photography becomes a way of negotiating trust, intimacy, belonging and control over one’s own image.
